Society: Net-A-Porter's Dolce & Gabbana Party
Dolce & Gabbana is now available, for the first time, online at net-a-porter.com and its menswear equivalent Mr Porter. To celebrate, Messers Dolce and Gabbana invited some fabulous friends to a party last Friday at the net-a-porter offices at Westfield, London.
It goes without saying that almost everyone wore Dolce & Gabbana.
Star print is going to be big for Autumn/Winter.

Naomi Campbell: Wild Pearl
Another day, another celebrity fragrance. Naomi Campbell recently launched her new fragrance - Wild Pearl.
It comes with the tag line 'Naomi's beauty is natural and bedazzling. The Wild Pearl fragrance brings alive Naomi's most remarkable attributes; her classic beauty and her wild, exotic aura that make her shine like a beautiful pearl.' We're not sure why, but that description made us chuckle!
For those who know about perfume, it has top notes of watermelon, peach and apple blossom; heart notes of jasmine, violet and pink pepper and base notes of cedarwood and exotic vanilla.
The line includes an Eau de Parfum and Toilette, a body cleanser and lotion and a deodorant.
Naomi gets a lot of flack for her alleged fiery temper and diva strops but we like her entrepreneurial spirit, her longevity and her philanthropic endeavours. Her Fashion for Relief campaigns have raised thousands of pounds for people in Haiti and more recently, in Japan. And that's the Naomi we chose to concentrate on.

Future Proof Your Wardrobe
Unlike the celebrities featured here, most of us don't have designers begging us to wear their clothes, so in an effort to be fashion forward, we feature here ladies who are wearing key looks for Autumn/Winter 2011/12. Sorry to get you thinking about Winter already!
The next time you go shopping, see if any of these looks are in the shops already and how you can marry them up with what you already own. Unless you have a massive disposable income, chances are you buy a few key pieces each season and make them work with your current wardrobe. Some of these trends simply carry on from Spring/Summer so purchase carefully and you'll be able to easily wear them through to later in the year.

Naomi Campbell for Fiorucci
Naomi has become a 'celebrity fashion designer' as Italian brand Fiorucci announced yesterday that she will be designing a 15-piece capsule collection, out next Spring.
Fiorucci said it made sense to team with Naomi as the company recently launched a selection of T-shirts printed with i-D Magazine covers featuring her: “The magazine chose Milan’s Fiorucci store for its Italian launch in 1982. It’s a great opportunity to revitalize the history of our brand.”
And the brand needs revitalising. We remember them being popular in the mid 90s but they seem to have quietly disappeared. We're sure Naomi can help put that to rights.
It does make us wonder how people without any formal fashion design training can so easily whip out collections. Victoria Beckham has never been to design school yet her eponymous clothing and more recently bag collection is a commercial and critical success with an army of celebrity fans including Jennifer Hudson, Eva Longoria and Demi Moore.
Same goes for Kate Moss for Longchamp and Topshop, Lily Allen and New Look (how she went from there to Chanel still surprises us), Daisy Lowe and Peacocks (aim high Daisy!) and Georgia May Jagger and Hudson Jeans.

Naomi Campbell vs Cadbury
Cadbury have found a new foe in Naomi Campbell after comparing her to a chocolate bar. A poster for their bar Bliss (which ran in newspapers last week but has since been removed) had the wording 'Move over Naomi – there’s a new diva in town.’
Naomi is said to be considering 'every option available' and was quoted as saying: "I am shocked. It's upsetting to be described as chocolate, not just for me, but for all black women and black people. I do not find any humour in this. It is insulting and hurtful."
Even Mama Campbell was upset: "I'm deeply upset by this racist advert. Do these people think they can insult black people and we just take it? This is the 21st century, not the 1950s. Shame on Cadbury."
There have been calls to boycott Kraft Foods products (Cadbury's parent company), letters written to Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson and comparisons being made between this advert and golliwog posters from yesteryear.
A spokesman for Cadbury (who have been in trouble over alleged racist ads in the past) said: ""It was certainly never our intention to cause any offense and the campaign itself is a light-hearted take on the social pretensions of Cadbury Dairy Milk Bliss."
What do you think - clever PR from Cadbury (would they have got this much coverage otherwise?) a storm in a teacup or an insulting racist ad?

Fashion Giant: Bethann Hardison
If you are of a certain age, one of your favourite TV characters may have been Dwayne Wayne from the 90s American TV sitcom, A Different World.
Dwayne Wayne was played by actor Kadeem Hardison. On this occasion, we’re not going to talk too much about Kadeem, but rather his mother Bethann whom we think is pretty amazing.
Hardison, currently editor-at-large at Vogue Italia online, is a towering figure within the world of fashion. She grew up in New York in a devout Muslim family and became the first African-American salesperson to work in a New York City garment district showroom in the 60s. After a chance meeting with the designer Willi Smith, she became part of a gaggle of coloured models who took the world by storm back in the 1970s.
During her modelling career, the New York native framed the clothes of many top European and American designers as well as appearing in fashion spreads in Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar. Iman, Beverley Johnson and Pat Cleveland were among Hardison’s contemporaries on the catwalk.
Hardison, however, is better known for her work after she wrapped up her career on the runway. She became an agent first with a company called Click before setting up her own modelling agency Bethann Management in 1984. One of her early successes was the 80s supermodel Veronica Webb who went on to win a very much coveted multi-million dollar contract with Revlon.
Remember Ralph Lauren poster boy, Tyson Beckford? He’s another protégé of Hardison. He wasn’t just the first black male supermodel; he was the first male supermodel full stop.
British supermodel, Naomi Campbell is another who owes her start in the fashion industry to the wonder touch of Hardison. But the 65-year-old has been so much more than an agent; she has championed the cause of people of colour in fashion.
In 1988, she set up a pressure group, the Black Girls Coalition with her great friend Iman (She was maid of honour at the Sudanese model’s wedding to David Bowie).
After running her agency for 21 years, Hardison sold up and headed for a great retirement. But as the fortune of models of colour continued to decline, the 63-year-old was forced to return, this time as a spokesperson. She is particularly disappointed about the lack of brown-skinned models on the catwalk and in magazine spreads, particularly after the heyday of the 70s.
“Once you’ve climbed to the top of the mountain you don’t expect to be back at the bottom again. It’s like once you’ve seen Paris it’s hard to go back to the farm. We had been there, we had achieved all this,” Hardison told London’s Guardian newspaper back in 2008.
In addition to all her campaigning, Hardison has a hugely influential role within Vogue Italia. She is very much the inspiration behind Vogue Black, which as its name suggests promotes all things black in the world of fashion.

Fashion at the Met Costume Institute Gala
Stars of film, fashion, television and music were at The Metropolitan Museum of Art for the Costume Institute Gala last night which honoured the late, great, Alexander McQueen.
Naomi Campbell (who's made it onto a few worst dressed lists) said of him: ‘He was a very sensitive, very instinctive and intuitive person - private and a very affectionate and lovely man. He was a monstrous talent.’
Celebrity attendees included SJP, Gisele, Rihanna, Jessica Alba and Beyonce and Jay-Z who were booed by photographers for failing to stop for extra pictures!
We’re more interested in who did stop!
Jennifer Lopez in Gucci. The colour looks gorgeous on her. The shoulders take the floral trend to a new level!
Rihanna in Stella McCartney. As usual she shows a lot without showing a lot. Not sure about The Little Mermaid inspired hair.
Beyonce is curvy perfection in Emilio Pucci. It looks really tight - how did she walk? Or breathe? The things we do for fashion! Feeling Jay's lo 'fro.
Tamara Mellon, Thandie Newton (who never looks bad) in Stella McCartney with Freida Pinto in Chanel.
Kerry Washington in Escada. Gorgeous dress and we love the 80's inspired hair.
Solange in Dries Van Noten. Umm...we like her hair. That's it.
A very serious Ciara in Prabal Gurung. Beautiful, beautiful dress.
Alicia Keys in Givenchy. Too much brown drowns her and the jacket brings the dress down.
Eva Mendes smoulders in Stella McCartney. This lady certainly knows how to work a red carpet.
Rashida Jones underwhelms in Stella McCartney. It's not a bad dress, it just doesn't have much wow for an occasion as wow worthy as this.
Zoe Saldana in Calvin Klein. Simple and elegant and love the easy waves in her hair.
Janelle Monae in The House of Chanel. We're getting a bit bored of this look now.
Iman in Stella McCartney. She looks stunning but we don't recommend matching your outfit with your hair.

Serena Williams in Oscar de la Renta. Could have worked sans the hat.
