Fashion at the 2011 Grammy Awards

The Grammys were held in Los Angeles last night and once again, the fashion did not disappoint.

Sticking with the music for a bit, some of the winners were:

Best Contemporary R&B Album – ‘Raymond V Raymond’, Usher
Best Rap Album – ‘Recovery’, Eminem,
Best R&B Album - 'Wake Up!', John Legend and the Roots
Best Rap Song - 'Empire State of Mind,' Jay-Z and Alicia Keys
Best R&B Song - 'Shine,' John Legend and the Roots
Best Dance Song - 'Only Girl (In The World)', Rihanna
Best New Artist - Esperanza Spalding

Needless to say, Lady Gaga stole the show by arriving in a giant egg!

Moving on, Rihanna must have friends in high places as she arrived in a John Paul Gaultier gown that was only on the catwalks of Paris last month! Nice. We also much prefer her new sleek hairstyle over the Sideshow Bob creation she had been sporting.

Jean Paul Gaultier Spring 11 Couture Show

For her on stage performance with Eminem, she wore a Christian Dior dress from his Autumn/Winter 2010 collection.

Jennifer Lopez certainly made an entrance in an itsy bitsy Emilio Pucci minidress and Christian Louboutin studded heels.

The ever slimmer Jennifer Hudson in a Versace gown.

Nicki Minaj in a leopard print Givenchy Couture full catsuit and ‘how did it stay up all night?’ hairpiece.

Kim Kardashion (with gravity defying boobs) in a Kaufman Franco gown and nude Christian Louboutin courts.

Naya Rivera (from Glee) in a short at the front, long at the back gown.

Ciara in a long but actually not-much-material Emilio Pucci 2011 Spring Collection dress.

Glee’s Jenna Ushkowitz in a classic nude strapless dress with black overlay.

Janelle Monae in her signature angdrogynous style with Dolce & Gabbana black satin trousers, sequin blazer and white shirt.

Amber Riley in an unusual embellished strapless gown, with odd gold shoulder detailing.

Monica in an overpowering formal black gown.

Esperanza Spalding rocking a natural 'fro.

And last but not least, cheer up Faith!

Fashion at the 2011 Golden Globes

The 2011 Golden Globe Awards were held in LA last night to recognise achievements in film and TV, and Hollywood was out in its sartorial finest.

Halle Berry

Make up perfection!

Got a big event coming up? Then take inspiration (and in some cases don’t) from what the ladies had to offer. Considering most, if not all, of them had a team of stylists, hairdressers, make up artists etc in their arsenal, we think some could have done better!

Glee actress Amber Riley in Oliver Tolentino. The make up is a bit matchy-matchy but she looks so cute and happy we're letting it go.

Actress Gabourey Sidibe. Nice dress but the make up is unforgiveable. It isn't 1967, make up exists in various shades of brown - couldn't someone at MAC have hooked her up? Words need to be had with her stylist.

Halle Berry in Nina Ricci. Stunning as usual.

Glee actress Jenna Ushkowitz in Rebecca Taylor.

Jennifer Lopez in Zuhair Murad and over $5 million worth of jewellery!

TV presenter Shaun Robinson.

Robert De Niro and wife Grace Hightower. She looks stunning.

The lovely Blair Underwood.

'Glee' is Fox's Answer to Disney's 'High School Musical'

Fox is again giving its viewers a new, delightful promising program that will surely capture the heart of teens and young alikes.

"Glee" is a little dark musical comedy tv series set within the fictional William McKinley High School in Lima, Ohio and revolves around a high school show choir, also known as the glee club. It is like a combination of Disney's 'High School Musical' and the famous musical movie 'Fame'.

It stars Dianna Agron, Chris Colfer, Jessalyn Gilsig, Jane Lynch, Jayma Mays, Kevin McHale, Lea Michele (Teen Choice nominee for Breakout Female), Cory Monteith (Teen Choice nominee for Breakout Male), Matthew Morrison, Amber Riley, Mark Salling and Jenna Ushkowitz.

A pilot episode of the show was broadcast after American Idol on May 19, 2009, and raked an incredibly high 10 million viewers at average. The rest of the season will begin airing on September 16, 2009.

The show was created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan, and originally envisioned as a film rather than a TV series. Murphy selects all music featured within the series himself, and intends to maintain a balance between show tunes and chart hits. Because of the extensive choreography necessary to stage the show’s musical numbers, episodes can take up to 10 days to film, and cost over $3 million to produce.

Critical response for program was mixed, with The New York Times’ Alessandra Stanley highlighting the episode’s unoriginality and stereotyped characters, but praising the showmanship and talent of the cast. The Daily News’ David Hinckley opined that the show was imperfect and implausible but "potentially heartwarming", while USA Today’s Robert Bianco noted casting and tone problems, but commented positively on the show’s humor and musical performances. Mary McNamara for the LA Times wrote that the show had a wide audience appeal, calling it "the first show in a long time that’s just plain full-throttle, no-guilty-pleasure-rationalizations-necessary fun."
