We reported on the six finalists last month and the overall winner was the Cutting Room Creative salon in Leeds. The team created their look on a model of African / Caribbean descent and showed their knowledge of Autumn/Winter 2011/12 trends using make‐up and fashion led styling with technically excellent colour and precision cutting skills.

The winning prize includes a cover and photo shoot in a leading magazine with PR representation to help to boost the salon’s profile.
Judge of the Mizani Errol Douglas MBE believes the competition is getting stronger every year. He said: “The 2011 Mizani Afro Catwalk Award winners, Cutting Crew demonstrated an amazing execution of on trend colour; their direction was accurate and worked flawlessly with the models skin tone and eyes, the total look incorporated strong fashion influences and was a fantastic example of beautiful, wearable overall look.”
