But, to my surprise it was Lauren Keyana “Keke” Palmer.
Ya’ll know Keke . . . Hell, if you colored folk we all know a Keke.
But, see this Keke is our American pie sweetheart who is an actress and singer who stole my heart in 2006 film “Akeelah and the Bee”.
Don’t you remember when she said:
Akeelah: “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.”
Akeelah: “You know that feeling where everything feels right? Where you don't have to worry about tomorrow or yesterday, where you feel safe and know you're doing the best you can? There's a word for that, it's called love. L-O-V-E.”
L-O-V-E (as I pat my right thigh)!
This Harvey, Illinois native is only seventeen years young and has a face of an angel an award winning smile that lights up a room.
She’s starred in movies and made television guest appearances in “Barbershop 2: Back in Business, Madea’s Family Reunion, Cleaner, The Longshots, Cold Case, Strong Medicine, ER, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Tyler Perry’s House of Payne, Runaway Love video (Ludacris Feat. Mary J. Blige)” and now she’s ready to tackle the music world.
In 2007 I was overwhelmed with joy to see her receive the Image Award for Outstanding Actress in a Motion Picture for “Akeelah and the Bee”.
Her other accolades include “2009 NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Performance in a Youth/Children’s Series or Special and 2010 BET YoungStars Award” just to name a few.
She truly is a role model and represents our Black Youth ooh so well.
Much success to Miss Palmer!
B’wood surely will be giving her a standing ovation when she receives that Golden Globe, Grammy, and Oscar!
Side Bar ~ G'rl did you really tackle "Weak" by SWV - okay, really it was CoCo song ... Not to bad Miss Palmer, not to bad!
