Valerie Pornea Speaks Up About Her Relationship with Mark Herras

Mark Herras vehemently denies rumor about her "kolehiyala" girlfriend in the name of Valerie Pornea of University of Sto. Tomas.

The young actor said that the girl in the picture is just an avid fan who always follows him in the tapings and even on his Sunday show SOP. He was just very accomodating to his fans that is why he sometimes ask the Valerie to sleep in his place.

According to Mark, "Hindi totoo ‘yan...marami lang ang nagpapalaki. Si Val, linawin ko lang...isa sa mga fans ko. Actually, hindi na nga lang din fan ang turing ko sa kanya. Basta ako ngayon, ang masasabi ko lang, single ako. Wala akong girlfriend. Alam ko ang totoo at alam din ng mga kasama ko ang totoo, kaya hindi ko na dapat patulan ang mga ganyan."

When the press got the chance to chat with Valerie, this is just what she said about the issue, “Sinabi po ba talaga ni Mark na fan niya ako? If ‘yun po ang sabi niya, sige po, fan na lang ako. Pero may fan po ba na sinasabay niya sa car niya? Pinapatulog sa kanila pag gabi matapos ang taping?

“If gusto niya punta ako ng taping, hindi ako pumapasok sa school kasi gusto niya nandoon ako tapos ngayon fan lang ako? Gawin niya rin sa akin ang ginawa niya kay Lian (Paz). Hindi ba unfair ‘yon?

“Masakit sa akin ito. Gusto ni Mark tumahimik na lang ako. Tatahimik naman po ako pero sana tumahimik din siya at hindi na niya ipagkalat na fan ako. Ano pa kayang mukha ang ihaharap ko sa mga classmates ko sa UST? Dapat nakinig ako sa mga friends ko dati pa.”

Sarah Geronimo is 2008 Box Office Queen?

With the huge success of her first-starring movie “A Very Special Love” opposite 2007 Box Office King John Lloyd Cruz, is Sarah Geronimo the new box-office queen?

There are no reports yet with the final haul of the Sarah-John Lloyd movie because it’s still showing in theaters nationwide but Star Cinema claimed it already reaches P134 million on it’s first 2 weeks of theatrical run beating the record set earlier this year by another Star Cinema movie “Caregiver” starring the Megastar Sharon Cuneta.

One of the factors that made “A Very Special Love” a monster hit is the solid fanbase of Sarah. Despite the protest of John Lloyd-Bea fans to boycott the John Lloyd-Sarah movie, it was “un-shaked” in any way. Even in the US, Sarah was hailed as the new “superstar”, a triple-threat if you must.

So if Bea Alonzo, whose last movie "One More Chance" (also with John Lloyd) was last year's number 1 or Sharon Cuneta will be trumped by Sarah Geronimo, the popstar princess can be tagged as the new Nora Aunor.

But, don't you think it's too early to tell if really Sarah will be this year's biggest hit? Considering Star Cinema is again about to release another surehit movie "For The First Time" starring Richard Gutierrez and KC Concepcion in her very first movie.

Yasmien Kurdi in Bikini

Yasmien Kurdi, in an interview with Pia Guanio on Showbiz Central last Sunday, August 17, clarified that the bikini photos that are spreading on the net and even in some tabloids is not part of publicity for their "Loving You" movie.

“Nakuha po yun sa Facebook account ko. Pero naka-private account po yun kaya hindi ko alam kung sino ang kumuha sa mga friends ko. Sana nga nilagay nila… Si Pilita…kilala mo ba yun, yung make-up artist? At saka si Kuya Otep Bongcalan, program manager? Naku, mas sexy pa ang mga yun sa akin! E, lahat kami stressed, so nagti-trip kami sa isang beach sa Zambales, so lahat kami nagpo-pose. At saka, last year pa yun! Ngayon lang lumabas yun. Alangan namang magpantalon pa ‘ko sa beach, e, beach yun!” Yasmien Kurdi explains.

And Yasmien does not think why there is a seeming big fuzz over her bikini photos. "Offensive? Naku, hindi ko nga alam kung bakit nila ginagawang big deal yun, e, sa cell phone nga lang yun!”

So, is she ready now to go sexy on her next television and movie projects?

“Actually, okey lang naman but not for men’s magazine, pero kung mga ads, okey lang.”

Joey De Leon, Willie Revillame and Pokwang on "Aswang" Issue

After the "flop" issue of Eat Bulaga's Grand Fiesta show in Los Angeles. And the "Ang lola ko pumapatay ng press" remarks, Joey De Leon is making headlines again after a youtube video wherein Joey De Leon, singing a tagalized version of John Lennon hit "Imagine" during the Los Angeles show, leaked the internet.

The song was supposedly a reflection on what life would be like without GMA-7. But the name of Pokwang was mentioned in the song referred to as "mukhang aswang".

"...At wala ng Dramarama/Channel 2 is the only one/makikita araw-araw ay mukha lang ni Pokwang/…makikita araw-araw ay mukhang aswang…/imagine that situation/ I wonder if you can, we need some girls like Marian/ not girls who look like men".

When requested for a statement, Pokwang said that despite making jokes at her expense, she still considers de Leon a comic icon and adds that for de Leon to even bother to include her in the joke is, in a way, flattering. Pokwang said she has no plans to do anything about the said incident, and joked that she would simply let de Leon, whom she called as “lolo” (grandpa), have his fun.

“Eh, siguro lab niya ako. Hayaan na lang natin ang lolo niyo, basta ako magta-trabaho na lang ako at magpapaligaya ng mga tao. Hindi po ako galit sa kanya dahil alam ko naman na may nagtatanggol sa akin. Enough na po yun. Thank you. Kasi nababanggit mo ako, di ba? Bilang isang Joey de Leon, maraming-maraming salamat. More power sa show nila. Positive na lang tayo.”

Willie Revillame also gave his sentiments on the issue and said that everyone should respect Pokwang because she is after all “tao din” (human too).

Alessandra de Rossi is Back as Kapamilya

Actress Alessandra de Rossi is back as Kapamilya after she accepted a month long appearance on the upcoming ABS-CBN teleserye 'I Love Betty La Fea'.

She also clarified last Sunday, August 17, on The Buzz that she had no exclusive contract with GMA-7 ever since, and that she informed the network’s management that she would be accepting a project from ABS-CBN. So she should not be tagged as one of those ungrateful Kapuso stars for suddenly ‘jumping ship’ to ABS-CBN.

"Kasi hindi na ako puwedeng naka-stambay lang sa bahay. Kailangan kong magtrabaho," Alessandra reasoned out. "Sobra naman yung ingrata, ‘yung mga years na nasa GMA ako, naging very loyal ako at very grateful ako sa nagawa nila sa akin, sa career ko, sa bank account ko. Kaya lang kailangan ko ring magtrabaho. Hindi ako puwedeng matengga dahil maraming nakaasa sa akin, meron din akong binabayarang bahay." the actress humored.

Alessandra also denied the rumor that her transfer has something to do with not wanting to work with actress Rhian Ramos and that she was assigned with another “kontra-bida” role in the Rhian Ramos upcoming Kapuso teleserye "La Lola". It was reported that Rhian and Alessandra had a rift on the taping of GMa-7 “L.U.V. Pow!” The said program was shelved because one of it’s star, Valerie Concepcion, switched network last year.

"That was more than a year ago, ‘di sana noon pa ko umalis. Nagkataon lang na dito nagkaroon ng magandang offer," she explained.

Aside from “I Love Betty La Fea”, Alessandra was also offered to lead in an upcoming soap opera co-starring her with Jake Cuenca and Angelica Panganiban.. "Isang soap na magandang maganda na dramang drama na very challenging yung role," Alex said enthusiastically.

John Lloyd Cruz is Armando Solis in 'I Love Betty La Fea'

Finally, the long wait is over!

John Lloyd Cruz had been named as Armando Solis in ABS-CBN's highly-anticipated version of the hit Colombian telenovela 'I Love Betty La Fea'.

"Dun sa mga naghihintay at umaasa na ako sana ang maging Armando, I’m very happy to be here and to tell them na it's me, I’m playing Armando," said the actor in an interview with the press.

And how is it to be working again with Bea Alonzo?

"Nakakatakot, e. Na para sa isang project na ganito kalaki, nangangapa pa rin tayo. But I'm more than happy to be working again with Bea. Medyo weird yung pakiramdam. Ganun ata eh ‘pag medyo matagal kayong hindi nagkakasama, hindi nagkakatrabaho. At saka ibang-iba siya dito eh. Ibang-iba yung itsura at character niya." John Lloyd honestly remarked.

Gretchen Espina is the Very First 'Pinoy Idol'

20-year-old Gretchen Espina from Biliran bested 21-year-old Jayann Bautista from Pampanga in the final two to win the first ever Pinoy Idol. Rocker Ram Chaves ended up third.

The Final results night were held at the SMX of the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay, City. The Top 24 finalists were grouped in fours and performed with Hajji Alejandro, Jett Pangan, Vernie Varga, and Duncan Ramos. Rock bands Pupil, Calla Lily, and Rivermaya also rendered special performances.

The final two, Jayann Bautista and Gretchen Espina sang the Ogie Alcasid composition “To You” as the coronation song with Gretchen reprising it after being proclaimed as the first Pinoy Idol.

Gretchen won 1 million in cash from SM Supermall, a recording contract from Sony BMG, a management contract from GMA Atist Center, a brand new car courtesy of Mitsubishi, and a condo unit in New Manila courtesy of Avida Towers.

PDA Season 2 Update: Laarni Losala is This Week's Star Scholar

Laarni Losala still couldn’t believe that she was declared this week’s Star Scholar. Her counterpoint performance with Bugoy, the Farmer’s Son who also made a spot on the Top Three, earned her a grade of 8.97. The jurors, composed of Louie Ocampo, Lani Misalucha, and Gerard Ocampo, were indeed impressed with her performance tonight. They just couldn’t deny the fact that she is indeed gifted with a wonderful voice.

Joining her in the Top Three are her partner Bugoy and Honorary scholar Poy.

She will be next Sunday's scholar performer on ASAP '08 as part of her privilege as PDA's Star Scholar of the Week.

On the ther hand, these week's bottom four are Hansen, Iñaki, Cris and Miguel. However, the Dream Mentors decided to save Sen.

Precious Lara Quigaman Created a New Beauty Contest called "Turismo Filipina"

Former Miss International 2005 Precious Lara Quigaman and her two beauty queen friends Binibining Pilipinas-Universe 2002 Karen Loren Agustin-Ostrea and Bininibing Pilipinas-International 2006 Denille Lou Valmonte joint their forces to fulfill a common dream and that isto create a new type of beauty contest that is bigger in scope— candidates will represent a province or a Metro Manila city.

And that dream is now a reality as the three past winners of Binibining Pilipinas have created a Turismo Filipina Charities Inc., a non-stock, non-profit organization that will spearhead the creation of Turismo Filipina search.

The contest requires all beauty aspirants of the following: looks, height, beauty, brains, talent—and knowledge of the province she will represent.

If ever, this will be the biggest female beauty contest in terms of scope and number of contestants. According to Karen during the presscon held at the TriNoma mall last August 14, there are 82 provinces in the Philippines plus 18 Metro Manila cities, so they are expecting at least 80 to 90 contestants for the first year. They also talked to the Governors League of the Phillipines and they agreed to send their participants in the contest.

The coronation night is scheduled on October 10 at AFP Theater. The winner will get to win 250 thousand cash prize, management contract, hordes of sponsor prizes and the sash and crown which the three beauty queen personally designed. The winner will also get the high benefit of being the Ambassador of Tourism in the Philippines since the contest is in partnership with the Department of Tourism.

GMA-7's "Celebrity Duets: Year 2" List of Contestants Revealed

GMA-7 recently revelead the official list of contestants in their new Saturday evening reality singing contest "Celebrity Duets: Year 2" which will replace the just concluded Pinoy Idol.

Eight contestants will compete each week and will have a duet number with the show's invited professional celebrity singer.

Included in the list are MMDA Chairman Bayani Fernando, fashion designer JC Buendia, comedian turned politician Joey Marquez and his beauty queen/supermodel/actress sister Melanie Marquez, former Bb. Pilipinas-World Carlene Aguilar, wellness and beauty expert Cory Quirino, chef and fomer Ka-Toque co-host JL Cang, and Fil-British professional soccer player Phil Younghusband.

The other supposed-to-be contestants but said "no" in the last minute are Entertainment columnist na si Ricky Lo, Pacman's wife Jinkee, and former Purefoods player Jerry Codiñera.

Celebrity Duets will have its pilot episode on August 23 and will be hosted by the real life sweethearts Regine Velasquez and Ogie Alcasid.

Jennylyn Mercado Gives Birth to A Baby Boy; "Jen's Baby is Patrick na Patrick." - Becky Aguila

Jennylyn Mercado gave birth last August 16, 8:49 am, via caesarian section at St. Lukes Medical Center in Quezon City.

Jen is now a mother of a baby boy who weighs 8.12 pounds. According to Becky Aguila, Jen's manager, "Wala pang name ang baby pero Patrick na Patrick. Mestizong-mestizo. He has red lips like Patrick, nice nose like Patrick and beautiful eyes like Patrick. Guwapong-guwapo. And very healthy."

"Jen gave birth to a healthy baby boy via Caesarean section yesterday. She was due to deliver on Aug. 22 yet and she expected to do so the normal way but the baby is too big. Both mother and son are now doing fine. Jen's requesting for privacy for now. Hope you all understand. Thanks for all your prayers and all your support." replied Becky when asked about Jen and the baby's current condition.

Asking for privacy while recuperating, Jen is strong enough to breastfeed the baby. She will do so until she runs out of milk.

Marian Rivera and John Lloyd Cruz Together in a Movie

After successfully getting Richard Gutierrez in a movie paired with KC Concepcion, Star Cinema is now again looking into a possibility of putting their talent John Lloyd Cruz and Marian Rivera of GMA-7 together in a movie.

Marian has an exclusive movie contract with Regal Films and Mother Lily is said to be open into a possibility of a joint movie venture project with ABS-CBN's film arm Star Cinema.

News also has it that Mother Lily is no longer interested in suing Star Cinema if they decided to produce a movie for Angel Locsin. Angel is still in exclusive movie contract with Regal and it wil be remembered that Mother Lily gives warning to Star Cinema that the Regal matriarch will definitely sue the company if they decided to push through on their movie project with Angel Locsin.

"Lobo" is the Most Watched Primetime Program in July

Angel Locsin once again regain her stature as the queen of primetime television when her Kapamilya primetime show "Lobo", opposite Piolo Pascual, bowed out taking the top stop in the July NUTAM (Nationwide Urban TV Audience Measurement) Ratings alongside with another Kapamilya show The Singing Bee hosted by Cesar Montano.

According to the latest NUTAM (Nationwide Urban TV Audience Measurement) study conducted by AGB Nielsen Media Research Philippines for the month of July, both Lobo and The Singing Bee accumulated identical 33.4 percent ratings.

Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes garnered a rating of 33.2 percent, placing third in the ratings.

Taking the fourth spot is Claudine Barretto's Iisa Pa Lamang, which garnered a total of 31.8 percent.

To compelete the Top 5 is Richard Gutierrez's Codename: Asero, with 31.5 percent rating.

Vanessa Hudgens Facing $5 Million Lawsuit

High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens is facing lawsuit after producer Johnny Vieira sued her for more than $5 million and punitive damages.

In May 2005, Vieira claims he and Vanessa entered into an agreement to launch Vanessa’s career and “share equally” in the profits. But after High School Musical became a hit, he says she dropped him and owes him $2 million.

Dolphy-Vic Sotto starrer 'Dobol Trobol, Let's Get Redi 2 Rambol' of RVQ Films, M-ZET and APT Inc. received "B" rating from the Cinema Evaluation Board (CEB).

It is a well known fact that the comedy King Dolphy and Prince of comedy Vic Sotto helped in conceptualizing the film which some showbiz observers call as "the comedy movie of the decade", according to the comedy king "Nga­yon lang kme nagsama sa pelikula, kaya dapat lang naming siguraduhin na matino, maganda, at nakatatawa ang pelikula namin."

Wanted: Blood Donors for Leukemia Stricken Francis Magalona

Philippines master rapper-songwriter Francis Magalona has been diagnosed with leukemia and is currently in need of blood donors (any type) and platelets.

Donations may be made at the lower ground level of The Medical City in Ortigas Pasig in the name of Francis Magalona.

Friends and relatives organized a blood donation drive to help the popular singer's cause. They're also asking friends from the media to spread the word regarding Francis's condition to encourage people to turn up and donate blood.

Wowowee Contestant Says "Thank You" to Eat Bulaga

After winning in the contest, a female contestant of Wowowee's Coca-Cola 50 Million Family Panalo gives her "thank you" to GMA 7's Eat Bulaga on August 06, 2008.

The contestant won P120,000 cash prize plus digicam and portable DVD player.

When she was about to give thanks, she mentioned Eat Bulaga instead of Wowowee.

"Maraming maraming salamat po sa Coke at saka..sa Eat Bulaga! Thank you po!"

The contestant received loud cheers from the Wowowee audience and upon realizing her mistake, she immediately corrected her lines.

"Ay...ay sa Wowowee! sa Wowowee po! sa Wowowee!"

Willie Revillame, the host, just laughed, scratched his head and defended the studio player.

"Hindi bale, okay lang. Ganon talaga. Kita n'yo ung tao. Syempre kinakabahan si Nanay. Alam nyo bakit siya nagpasalamat sa Eat Bulaga? Bakit? Nanonood sila sa 'tin ngayon."

Tisha Silang and Geoff Rodriguez joins Amazing Race Asia 3

The Philippines' contestants in the next season of The Amazing Race Asia are former Bb. Pilipinas winner Tisha Silang and her model boyfriend Geoff Rodriguez.

Tisha, the ex-girlfriend of Survivor Philippines’s host, Paolo Bediones, and once Miss Philippines had to forgo her crown due to her Canadian citizenship.

In 1998, Tisha won the Miss Philippines Universe crown but had to give it up because of her Canadian citizenship. While that win has remained the proudest moment of her life, she’s hoping that taking part in The Amazing Race Asia will trump that.

Joining her is her boyfriend of three and a half years, Geoff, and by all accounts, participating, much less winning the race will be an uphill battle says the couple. For one thing, their relationship is the classic definition of opposites attract.

“Nobody would have thought that we would end up dating. We have very different personalities but have managed to make it work so far,” notes Tisha.

Quips Geoff on the first time they were introduced by a mutual friend, “I was interested in Tisha for obvious reasons. And Tisha wasn’t interested, for obvious reasons.”

This is also the second time that the couple has auditioned for the show and the couple almost missed the deadline too. “We were in such a rush to submit the video I can’t say we did anything really spectacular,” Tisha admits.

The last and most important reason against them has to do with their horrible track record when it comes to traveling. While on vacation in Boracay, the couple missed not once, two but three consecutive flights back home to Manila. And by that time, they were broke as well. Tisha says with a laugh, “And now we want to race together…should be interesting.” Fingers are crossed but hopefully, the two won’t be making the same mistake again, especially on the show.

“Missing a flight, I think that is the most embarrassing thing you can do while traveling,” admits Geoff. But rather than to lay blame, the couple made the best of their situation. “Tisha was shooting for FHM and we were supposed to be there only for the weekend. By then we had spent all out money in re-booking and extension fees. But time flies when you’re in love and having a ball.”

And the other reason for wanting to be in the race is of course, to counter the loss of Team Philippines from the previous season, jokes Geoff. Marc and Rovilson came in third in the last show. He says, “We have huge shoes to fill after the stint that Marc and Rovilson pulled off.”

Nonetheless, the couple is certain that they will bring to the race the love and respect that has been the foundation of their relationship. Geoff says, “Tisha and I have had a sound relationship, from the time we have met. And now we are testing our relationship, by entering the race.”

Ogie and Regine To Produce an Album for Robby Navarro of Pinoy Idol

Ogie Alcasid, during his "20/20" concert presscon, releaved that he and her girlfriend Regine Velasquez are thinking of producing an album for the eliminated Pinoy Idol hopeful Robby Navarro under their iMusic label.

"Pinag-iisipan namin. Sayang kasi kung hindi siya magkaka-album, magaling siyang singer," according to Ogie.

The singer-composer is very vocal in saying that he is very much convinced that Robby should have an album due to the latter strong vocal prowess. Ogie also admitted that he was so disappointed when Robby got eliminated and didn't had the chance to stay longer in the competition.

Judy Ann Santos' "Ploning" Schedule of Canada Screening

Ploning was screened in France last July 5 as part of "An Evening with Philippine Stars" of the sixth Paris Cinema Festival. Judy Ann Santos attended the special screening together with her fiancée Ryan Agoncillo and the film's director, Dante Nico Garcia.

This time, the movie is set to be screened in Canada. Alfie Lorenzo, Judy Ann Santos' manager has yet to confirm whether Juday will also attend either of the scheduled dates of the Canada screening due to the actress' tight schedule. Juday is currently shooting her nurserye on ABS-CBN.

Mark Bautista is the latest addition to the cast of Robin Padilla's horror movie "Sundo".

Mark will be paired to Rhian Ramos in this Toppel Lee flick and the same creative team that brought us the movie Quija.

Also in the cast are Sunshine Dizon and Katrina Halili in a special role.

Joshua Allen and "Twitch" Boss of 'So You Think You Can Dance' Hospitalized Days Before Finale

Two of the final four contestants of So You Think You Can Dance were rushed by ambulance to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after collapsing at a weekend rehearsal, just days before the show's finale.

"The two dancers rushed to the hospital were Joshua Allen and "Twitch" Boss – both [of the] remaining male contestants," according to source.

Boss and Allen were treated for dehydration and released, the source adds.

“The two went in [Saturday] and so there was no more rehearsals, and today [Sunday] all the rehearsals were called off,” SYTYCD judge Mary Murphy told reporters at FOX’s 2008 Teen Choice Awards. “The kids are completely dehydrated – two of them. I’m sure they’re doing a lot of blood work to see if there’s anything else.”

The two will face off against Katee Shean and Courtney Galiano this Thursday as the show crowns America's Favorite Dancer.

With $400,000 an episode, Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay is the highest-paid actress in a drama. Kyra Sedgwick takes home $275,000 per episode of TNT's The Closer, making her top- earning actress on a cable network drama.

Some stars make serious money without appearing on TV at all.

Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane, who supplies the voice of lead character Peter Griffin, just signed a deal with Fox that will net him $100 million through 2012.

And The Simpsons cast — Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner, Nancy Cartwright, Yeardley Smith and Hank Azaria — each earn $400,000 per episode.

MTV Asia Awards 2008 List of Winners

The MTV Asia Awards, the most prestigious music awards in Asia, granted music icons from China, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea and the Philippines a golden M bars during a star-studded awards night on Saturday night at the Arena of Stars in Genting, Malaysia.

The show were hosted by Jared Leto, front man of 30 Seconds to Mars, and Award-winning actress and singer Karen Mok.

Presenters at the event included Dave, Jacklyn Victor, Joe Flizzow, Leo Ku, Miguel Chavez, Moots, Pussycat Dolls, Show Lo and Stefanie Sun.

Pinoy Dream Academy (PDA) Season 2 Update: Laarni, Apple and Miguel are This Week's Nominated for Expulsion

The 7th Gala Night marked a lot of firsts in Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2: the first performance of the Headmaster's List of Ten, the first Gala Night with a live band, and the first graded performance of honorary scholar Poy Palma of Zamboanga. Another first in the two-season history of PDA: in a twist reminiscent of Pinoy Dream Brother, the scholars were pitted in a face-off challenge last night, August 2, at the PDA Concert Hall in Quezon City.

Two scholars battled head-to-head; the contestant with the lower grade automatically landed in the bottom five regardless of overall ranking.

Liezel Garcia and Laarni Losala's match-up was a given, considering resident judge Gerard Salonga's comment last week citing the two as the top female vocalists of the competition. But it was the Liezel who emerged as the winner of the match with her rendition of Beyonce Knowles's "Listen." Guest judges Jimmy Bondoc and Ivy Violan agreed with resident juror Louie Ocampo when he said Liezel's performance was "the performance of the night." The four-time top scholar earned an overall score of 9.67, the highest score for a solo performance this season.

Likewise, Laarni got some love from the judges for singing "Di Ko Kayang Tanggapin." "As far as voice-wise, I was surprised. The texture was correct. I enjoyed it," Louie said. Laarni received a score of eight for her rendition of the April Boy Regino song. The resident juror further praised Laarni after her duet with honorary scholar Poy Palma. After they sang "And I'm Telling You," Louie said, "For the first time, I am truly, truly in love with your singing, Laarni."

Meanwhile, it was a close call for Bugoy Bogoyan, another consistent top scorer. Although Jimmy said Apple Abarquez's ‘We Are Family" was "slightly better" than Bugoy's "Nakapagtataka, it was Apple was landed in the bottom five with a score of 6.58. This is the first time Apple became part of the bottom group. Louie's preference, however, was spot on-he said he liked Iñaki Ting's "I'd Do Anything For Love" (But I Won't Do That) compared to Miguel Mendoza's "When Doves Cry," although Louie added he saw improvements in Miguel's singing. "I can't help but not compare you to your past performances. And I must admit I did enjoy your performance tonight, kasi ngayon may mga kulot-kulot ka sa nota na wala naman dati...nakakasurprise. I've seen you grow musically. Although di pa rin perfect, it's nice to know that you are improving," he said of Miguel's performance. Miguel received a grade of seven.

Another scholar who had previously steered clear from the bottom group, Van Pojas, failed to maintain his spot-free record. His rendition of "Through the Fire" did not impress Ivy and earned him a 5.60. Instead, the judges favored Hansen Nichols's "Bailamos," his second Enrique Iglesias song so far. Cris Pastor's "It's Raining Men" also managed to beat Bunny Malunda's "Satisfaction," which earned her 5.17 points.

Although Poy failed to become Star Scholar this, she received raves from Ivy when she sang "Free Your Mind." "Pro na pro ka kumanta. And you're the person to beat, really... I really see the potential and versatility in you," she said.

In a curious decision, the mentors saved Bunny from probation despite getting the lowest grade of the night. With this, Liezel and Bugoy are the only remaining scholars who haven't been part of the bottom group. Who among Laarni, Apple, and Miguel will go home next week?
